1. Overview
TripSynk (developed by TripSynk) is a trip-planning and expense-splitting app. If you no longer want to use TripSynk, you can ask us to delete your account and the personal data linked to it by emailing our support team.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you change your mind later, you will need to sign up again as a new user.
2. How to request deletion
Send an email to contact@tripsynk.in with the subject line “Delete my TripSynk account” and include the following details:
- Full name as it appears on your TripSynk profile.
- Phone number you used to sign up (including country code, e.g. +91 98765 43210).
- Reason for deletion (optional, but helps us improve).
Once we receive your email and verify your identity (see Section 3), we will delete your account and personal data within the timelines listed in Section 6.
3. Identity verification
Before we delete any account, we verify that the request is coming from the rightful owner. This protects you from unauthorized deletion requests.
We will reply to your email and ask you to confirm ownership of the phone number on file — typically by replying with a one-time code we send to that number via SMS, or by confirming details only the account owner would know.
If we cannot verify your identity, we will not delete the account and will let you know why.
4. What is deleted
When your deletion request is processed, the following data is permanently removed from TripSynk:
- Your profile (display name, profile photo, phone number).
- Your authentication record (Firebase user, sign-in tokens).
- Trips you own that have no other members.
- Photos you uploaded to trip albums.
- Receipts and expense attachments you uploaded.
- Push notification tokens registered to your account.
- Friend links and balances that involve only you.
- Support correspondence older than the retention period in Section 6.
5. What is retained
Some information may be retained after account deletion, for the reasons listed below:
- Shared trip records.Trips and expenses you shared with other members are kept so that their balances and trip history remain accurate. Your name on those records is replaced with an anonymized label such as “Removed member”.
- Aggregated analytics. Anonymous, non-identifying usage statistics (e.g. how often a feature was used) may be retained to help us improve TripSynk.
- Legal & fraud-prevention records. Limited information may be retained where required by law, accounting obligations, or to investigate fraud, abuse or security incidents.
- Backups. Encrypted backups containing your data are rotated and purged within 90 days of deletion.
6. Timelines
- Account & profile: deleted within 30 days of a verified request.
- Photos & receipts: deleted within 30 days of a verified request.
- Backups: purged within 90 days of deletion.
- Legal/fraud records: retained only as long as required by applicable law.
